Our selection off organic Trousers and Jeans use the only two registered fair-trade children’s clothes designers in the UK, using organic cotton and rich colours. The Jeans are produced by a company called Little Green Radicals. They are made in Egypt and use organic cotton making these jeans very hard wearing, ideal to pass on to other siblings.
The Piccalilly range of organic dresses use bold colours and come with the FAIRTRADE Mark certification - a guarantee that producers in developing countries are getting a better deal. Our organic cotton is sourced through the CHETNA project in India - supporting over 1500 small cotton farmers. The cotton is certified organic through SKAL and carries the EKO guarantee that no synthetic chemical pesticides or fertilizers have been used. The cotton is dyed using low impact environmentally friendly SKAL approved dyes and at no stages of processing are formaldehyde, solvents, toxic chemicals or azo dyes used. Quality and craftsmanship is second to none along with a smirk or two!
The second range of dresses from Piccalilly are dedicated to producing ethical and sustainable fashion and wish to move towards creating a range entirely from organic or environmentally sound materials. However the current market for organic cotton is in short supply and not easily accessed by small garment producers. Piccalliy have therefore decided to continue supporting some of our small suppliers who use conventional cotton and non-eco fabrics.
Our long term aim is to help them tap into the organic cotton market and work with them towards sustainable production and best practice.
